GARDEN ART, MOTORCYCLES AND AN EXTRAORDINARY ADVENTURE WITH DIEGO!

Jack&Dog at Garden Expo – garden art, travel, and Diego on a motorcycle!

At Garden Expo, you will meet a unique duo who share a passion for travel, construction, and garden art—Jacek and Diego, aka Jack&Dog. They are not only motorcycle travelers, but also creators of unusual plant forms that attract attention with their precision and originality. Jacek and Diego have traveled 40,000 km on their motorcycles, visiting 20 European countries.

Parallel to his travels, Jacek develops garden art in the form of spectacular topiaries — plant sculptures created through precise cutting. His signature pieces are impressive double-twisted spirals, called “genetic codes,” made on plants such as Emerald Gold, which gives the compositions an elegant, golden hue. Each work is distinguished by its extraordinary attention to detail, high plant density (3-5 years of formation), and a sculptural effect that is impressive both up close and from a distance.

What will you see at the Jack&Dog stand?

During Garden Expo, organizers and visitors can look forward to unique attractions and presentations, including:

-  a collection of Jack&Dog spirals and other topiary forms

-  live pruning demonstrations for visitors

-  a gardening and travel lecture full of inspiration and experiences

-  a presentation of special topiary shears, rarely seen in gardening practice - Diego's motorcycle jumping demonstrations and the opportunity to meet this extremely friendly dog

- video materials from expeditions and garden projects presented on screen

Warsaw Garden Expo is the perfect place to see the combination of garden art and travel passion live — in a form that has never been seen before.

Meet Jack&Dog at the Warsaw Garden Expo and see garden art in motion live!

EXPERT, APPRAISER, SUPERVISION INSPECTOR, CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AND WORKS MANAGER – DISCUSSION OF SELECTED FORMAL AND LEGAL ISSUES

During the lecture, the following issues will be discussed, among others: Distinction between key terms: expert, court-appointed expert (i.e. a person entered on the official list of experts maintained by a court), and appraiser. Clarification and non-interchangeability of powers and scopes of responsibility of an expert, court expert, and appraiser, with particular emphasis on the role of the supervision inspector. Entity-based and subject-based classification of supervision on construction sites. Duties and powers of: the Investor’s Supervision Inspector, the Author’s Supervision Inspector, the Construction Manager and/or Works Manager, including the scope of their responsibilities related to tree protection, as well as their professional liability and criminal and/or civil liability.

10:10 - 11:20

Lecturer: Dr hab. Eng. Ewa Mariola Zaraś

THE TREE AS THE SUBJECT OF SCIENTIFIC WORK

During the lecture, the following topics will be discussed, among others: Why trees? Distinction between dendrology and arboriculture, with clarification of key concepts. History and Development The origins of dendrology Modern dendrology The emergence of arboriculture Arboriculture in Poland Dendrology – Areas of Research(commonly referred to as branches of dendrology) Taxonomy and systematics (including species identification and DNA analysis) Anatomy and morphology (e.g. trunk, roots, conducting tissues) Tree ecology (e.g. stress adaptations, ecophysiology) Geography and migration (e.g. distribution ranges, post-glacial migrations) Genetics and breeding (e.g. biodiversity conservation, new cultivars) Dendrochronology (e.g. dating and climate reconstructions) Interdisciplinarity Natural and exact sciences (e.g. biology, climatology, wood physics) Technical sciences (e.g. GIS, LiDAR, robotics, AI) Humanities and arts (e.g. environmental psychology, art history, land art; infographic concept: “the tree at the center” surrounded by scientific disciplines) Urban planning and public health (e.g. green infrastructure, smart cities, the impact of trees on mental and physical health) Contemporary Challenges Climate change (e.g. droughts, heat waves, extreme weather events) Alien species and pathogens (e.g. horse chestnut leaf miner Cameraria ohridella, Ceratocystis platani) Investments, not only infrastructure development, and related conflicts Ageing of dendroflora (e.g. veteranisation, restoration of tree-lined avenues) Digitalisation and new technologies (e.g. mobile applications, GIS databases, smart arboriculture) ConclusionDendrology is the science of trees. Arboriculture is the science of active tree protection, based on professional practice and experience. Together, they constitute a response to contemporary civilisational challenges. A tree is a partner of civilisation — biological, cultural, and social. It depends on us — specialists such as dendrologists and arborists, as well as every individual (officials, social activists) — whether future generations will live in the shade of great trees.

11:20 - 12:30

Lecturer: Dr hab. Eng. Edyta Rosłon-Szeryńska

During the lecture, the following topics will be discussed, among others: The role of culture, knowledge, and civic awareness in tree management. Technological development, exchange of experience, and the evolution of arboriculture education. Levels of tree-related education and their impact on the effectiveness of nature conservation, climate change mitigation, and improving quality of life. Home environment, preschool education, school, vocational, and academic education, as well as continuing professional development in arboriculture. Civic and community initiatives and their role in raising standards of greenery, particularly high greenery in urbanised spaces. Problems and barriers to implementing good arboricultural practices (including quality of education, administration, formal and legal aspects, and financial constraints), as well as realistic possibilities for addressing these challenges.

12:30 - 13:40

Lecturer: Prof. Dr hab. Eng. Przemysław Bąbelewski

THE TREE AS THE SUBJECT OF A NURSERY GROWER’S WORK

Quality selection of trees and shrubs, taking into account the quality recommendations of the Polish Nurserymen Association. Invasive species – definition and scientific background (including criteria of invasiveness and research on their impact on habitats). Invasive species as a challenge for arboriculture (e.g. short life span, increased risk of branch or whole-tree failure). Social and legal conflicts, including the presence of invasive tree species in anthropogenic areas such as arboreta, collections, and themed gardens. Invasive species – examples from Poland: black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia), box elder (Acer negundo L.), northern red oak (Quercus rubra L.), black cherry (Prunus serotina), knotweed species. Disputes concerning trees purchased for planting projects.

13:40 : 14:50

Buying a Robotic Lawn Mower – 7 Most Common Mistakes

The lecture is purely educational in nature and is based on technical analysis and service case studies, without promoting any specific brands. The purpose of the presentation is to raise awareness among potential buyers of robotic lawn mowers about how to properly select a machine that suits their needs.

Key mistakes made at the investment stage will be discussed, including:

1. Underestimating machine performance: Why catalog specifications (maximum area coverage) often do not reflect the reality of garden architecture, and how this affects battery lifespan and component wear (TCO analysis).

2. Choosing the right navigation technology: A comparison of wired systems vs. GPS/RTK solutions in the context of garden infrastructure (tree cover, buildings, obstacles).

 3. Hidden costs: An analysis of the total cost of ownership, including servicing and consumable materials.
